For Love Of Palestine

Why did I leave? I tell you
Because I was tired
I almost died 20, 30 times
Working with an NPO
We tried to do the best for people
Sometimes we brought food, blankets
Building supplies, medicine in tunnels
I had to be neutral all the time
I couldn’t be pro-Hamas or pro-Abbas
As soon as people know you lean
They can drive a wedge
I loved my job, felt proud helping
But towards the end it was the same
Stage and supply from Jordan
Be blocked or have shipments taken
Half the civil authority was paid under tables
My dream is to go back, build a house
My Canadian passport sets me free
But I still love my homeland, and will return
Someday
